There are certain assignments that come through year after year, and though it might be the same thing, it is a completely new set of people and a completely new set of photos. The Mount Sinai School of Medicine’s Annual Commencement Ceremony is one of those assignments. Every year we are there and see a new set of faces and a new set of doctors. We go mainly to capture the posed photos on stage, but can’t pass up documenting the excitement around us as well.
When a client only has one day available to shoot a photo, you have to work with the elements. Even if the elements are working against you. We shot this photo in Times Square with the CEO of DHL as well as a Rugby player that DHL sponsors. It was pouring rain, but the only time that everyone would be in New York at the same time, so with umbrellas in hand and bags covering the flashes used to light the shot, we made due and ended up with a great shot in times square with the saturated colors that the rain often brings to New York.
